Switzerland & Blacka Forest

Itinerary

Day-1:

Welcome to Switzerland. Rail transfer to Lucerne, the gateway to central Switzerland, situated on Lake Lucerne, is embedded within an impressive mountainous panorama. Thanks to its attractions, its souvenir and watch shops, the beautiful lakeside setting and the nearby excursion mountains of the Rigi, Pilatus and Stanserhorn, the town is a destination for many individuals on their journey through central Switzerland.

Later explore places on boat cruise. An excursion to Central Switzerland is just not complete without a boat cruise on Lake Lucerne. Whether a Lunch Cruise on the modern MS Diamant or a romantic cruise at sunset on an antique paddle steamer – it’s a must. Overnight in Lucerne.

Day-2:

Enjoy Mount Titlis and en-route visit Engelberg. At the summit of the 3000-metre mountain, a breathtaking panorama as well as other highlights await: various restaurants with sun terraces, the Glacier Cave (free admission), the “Titlis Cliff Walk” – Europe’s highest suspension footbridge – and of course eternal snow and ice. On the glacier chairlift “Ice Flyer” visitors literally fly over the Titlis glacier to the Glacier Park, a free attraction. Overnight in Lucerne.

Day-3:

Train transfer to Interlaken. Check-in at your hotel. In afternoon enjoy a fleet of 14 boats, two of which are paddle steamers, navigate Lakes Thun and Brienz. The delightful lakes in the middle of the imposing mountain landscapes of the Bernese Oberland offer a unique way of experiencing unrivalled natural beauty in a completely relaxed way – no matter the weather.

Proceed to Schilthorn. At 2970 meters, the Schilthorn attracts visitors with a magnificent 360-degree panoramic view of the “Swiss skyline” including Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau and a delicious meal in the revolving restaurant Piz Gloria. Train from Interlaken Ost to Lauterbrunnen, then by PostBus to the valley station Stechelberg. Overnight in Interlaken

Day-4:

Today enjoy Jungfraujoch via Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen. For more than 100 years, the Jungfrau railway has been making its journey to Europe’s highest-altitude railway station at 3454 meters a.s.l. – right at the heart of the UNESCO heritage site “Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch”. All through the year, the cog railway runs steeply up through a tunnel to the Jungfraujoch from Kleine Scheidegg.

The tunnel leading up from the station Eigergletscher is seven kilometers in length and was built between 1896 and 1912. One stop within the tunnel offers spectacular views onto the glacier world outside through windows in the Eiger North Face. On the summit, visitors are greeted by a high-Alpine wonder world made of ice, snow and rocks. All of this can be marveled at from the viewing platforms “Sphinx” and “Plateau” on the Aletsch glacier or from the “Ice Palace”. Return & Overnight in Interlaken

Day-5:

Train transfer to Zurich: Culturally vibrant, efficiently run and attractively set at the meeting of river and lake, Zürich is regularly recognized as one of the world's most livable cities. Long known as a savvy, hard-working financial center, Switzerland's largest and wealthiest metropolis has also emerged in the 21st century as one of Central Europe's hippest destinations, with an artsy, post-industrial edge that is epitomized in its exuberant summer Street Parade. Overnight in Zurich.

Day-6:

Visit the incredible world of Heidi. It’s a world of mountains and valleys, alpine lakes and meadows, waterfalls, gorges, caves, and fascinating scenic reserves. After first completing a city tour of Zurich we will follow Lake Zurich to Rapperswil, the city of roses. We will visit the picturesque Old Town and its Medieval Castle. You will also have some free time to explore here.

After crossing the Ricken Pass with its panoramic views of the Alps we will reach the lovely Toggenburg region, whose pretty hills and valley scenery is the perfect photo opportunity! In Vaduz, the capital of the tiny principality of Liechtenstein, you will have more free tim. A visit to the post office is recommended; the famous stamps from this tiny state are coveted worldwide by philatelists and amateur stamp lovers alike.

Later we will arrive at Maienfeld, the setting for the Heidi stories. In the summer months you can visit Heidi’s village. A short walk leads to a collection of picturesque mountain houses, a village shop, and of course lots of little goats. Entry into the authentic Heidi House is optional. During winter season Heidi's village is closed. We will show you the oldest houses of Switzerland in Werdenberg, which is famous for its beautiful castle.

Finally, we will take a beautiful trip back to Zurich along the banks of Lake Walen, guarded by the majestic Churfirsten mountain range, ending your lovely, nostalgic Swiss tour. Overnight in Zurich.

Day-7:

Today An excursion to Northern Switzerland and the Black Forest, this tour brings you to one of the most attractive landscapes of Southern Germany. Going along Lake Schluchsee we will reach Titisee, the very heart of the Black Forest. You will get a short introduction into how they make the popular cuckoo clocks sing, followed by some free time to explore on your own.

Perhaps you wish to take a boat ride or enjoy the local food; the most well-known specialty is the Black Forest Cake, made with cherry brandy. We'll drive through impressive spruce forests, passing by Lenzkirch as you return to Switzerland. There we will stop to admire the Rhine Falls, Europe's largest and most spectacular waterfalls. There is enough time to take an optional cruise. Enjoy! Afterwards we will return to Zurich by modern coach. Overnight in Zurich.
